Lesbians with cancer, their partners and caregivers can be
confronted with additional issues that further complicate and
frustrate their lives.

They may encounter misunderstanding within the medical
profession about their particular needs. Medical personnel may
not give the woman's partner the respect and understanding
given naturally to heterosexual couples.

Employers may deny partners of lesbians the flexibility and
financial support given to traditional spouses.

Family and co-workers may not provide support for lesbians as
they would for women whose lives fit into traditional support
systems.
